Level test and live evaluation
Two steps before a group course — what they are for and when they are optional.
Everyone in a group is at roughly the same level — otherwise the class moves either too fast or too slow. That is why before the start we invite you to a short live evaluation: speaking and listening can only be judged in conversation. The online test is optional — it shows your grammar and vocabulary and helps the teacher prepare. On beginner courses (A0–A1) the evaluation is optional too: if you are starting from scratch, there is nothing to assess yet.
Take the online test
The test is free and runs right here on the site: a few blocks of questions, no preparation needed. The result is saved automatically and your provisional level appears in the “Getting started” block:

Book the live evaluation
The Getting started block sends you to the Level assessment section, where the nearest sessions are listed. Pick the time that suits you and confirm — the meeting then shows up in your account:
Live evaluation of your proficiency level — up to 30 minutes. Required before your course starts.
Attend the meeting
The conversation with a teacher lasts up to 30 minutes and takes place in a video room on the site. The join button becomes active 10 minutes before the start.

We place you in a group
After the meeting — or right after purchase, if you skip it on a beginner course — we look for a cohort at your level. Once a group is found, the schedule and lessons appear in your account and the “Getting started” block closes.
